Abstract
- Cloud is one of the big obstacles in the ocean color remote sensing using the polar orbit platforms. The cloud-free area has been expected to increase with the multiple observations a day by Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI). This study for the first time investigated the improvement of cloud-free ocean coverage using the real ocean color images from GOCI. Preliminary results show that the cloud-free coverage of daily composite image is approximately 2.76 times of the single image a day. The effect of the advantages of GOCI is also discussed.
