Abstract
Acoustic properties of gravel sediment are studied.In this study, The phase velocity and attenuation of gravel sediment are investigated using experimental measurement and the BICSQS model. Biot’s theory is well known for explain the phase velocity and attenuation of porous medium like ocean sediment. But the phase velocity and attenuation of gravel sediment are not well explained by Biot’s theory. So we tried to explain these acoustic characteristics by usingBICSQS model. For this purpose, we compared with laboratory experimental data and numericalcomputation model. The laboratory experiment is carried out at frequency range 40-150 kHz in freshdegased water. To explain these experimental results, we applied the BICSQS model using parameters of gravel sediment which are actually measured.
