dc.description.abstract Global surface temperatures have experienced a warming trend, and the temperatures are expected to warm due to rapid increases in greenhouse gases (GHGs) and over the entire length of the instrumental record [IPCC, 2007]. However global temperatures have undergone significant warming for all seasons except winter, when cooling trends exist instead across large stretches of eastern North America and northern Eurasia (Cohen et al., 2012). Many studies have demonstrated that the phenomenon over Arctic region is closely connected to mid latitude climate from day-to-day variabilities to long-term trends (e.g., Kerr, 1999 Thompson et al., 2000)In this study, we have focused on the recent trends over Korean Peninsula during boreal winter, and we suggested the important factor that lead to the trends such as temperature and geopotential height fields over the Arctic region. temperatures have undergone significant warming for all seasons except winter, when cooling trends exist instead across large stretches of eastern North America and northern Eurasia (Cohen et al., 2012).
