Abstract
Changes in the environments of tidal flat influence the surface sedimentary facies and topographywhich are directly affecting the distribution of the benthos in tidal flat. The purpose of this study was to estimate the correlation of surface sedimentary facies, topography and exposure time with backscattering coefficient and coherence value. Coherence value was relatively high in the mud flat than in the sand or mixed flat due to the high elevation with longer exposure time. The backscattering coefficient of tidal flats was lowered as the soil moisture decreased at all types of sedimentary facies under the same exposure duration. but, mud flat had a positive relationship with the density of tidal channel and tidal flat elevation. X-band showed more clear relationship because of its short wavelength than L-, C- band.urface sedimentary facies, topography and exposure time with backscattering coefficient and coherence value.
