Abstract
- Microorganisms have been recognized as a rich source of structurally unique bioactive secondary metabolites. Especially, marine bacteria have received increased attention as potential sources of bioactive natural products. The producing strain Streptomyces sp. 112CH-148 was isolated from a starfish collected from Chuuk, Micronesia. Two new alpha-pyrones and four known compounds were isolated from the culture broth of the strain 112CH-148. The compounds were isolated and purified by ODS open column chromatography and semi-prep HPLC. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by the analyses of the extensive 2D NMR and mass spectroscopy.
