dc.description.abstract We conducted three magnetic surveys from 21, Apr, 2011 to 23, Apr, 2011 and from 26, Jan, 2012 to 29, Jan 2012 for finding hydrothermal deposits. We used R/V ARAON(2011) and R/V SONNE(2012), respectively for these surveys. Our survey area were the eastern and the western sides of the caldera of TA25 and TA26 in the deep sea of Tonga in the southwest Pacific. The distances between the magnetometer sensor and ROV were 1.26m(2011) and 2.38m(2012), respectively for reducing the effect of noise of ROV. A motion sensor(Octans) provided us the data of pitch, roll, yaw for the correction of the magnetic data. In the magnetic surveys, ROV followed the tracks of the plan at 50m above seafloor. The data of the magnetometer sensor and the motion sensor data were recorded on a notebook through the optical cable of ROV using Aqua Mag software(OTRONIX).ere the eastern and the western sides of the caldera of TA25 and TA26 in the deep sea of Tonga in the southwest Pacific. The distances between the magnetometer sensor and ROV were 1.26m(2011) and 2.38m(2012), respectively for reducing the effect of noise of ROV.
