Abstract
A spatial and temporal variations in physiochemical parameters in southeastern Yellow Sea (YS) were investigated in summer of 2010 to 2013. The temperature of surface waters mostly were over 25℃ except for 2011, and the low salinity(<31 psu) were observed in 2012 and 2013 Of the environmental parameters in 2011 when the strong typhoon passed through the center of Yellow Sea three days ago, before measured, the concentration of chlorophyll-a(Chl-a) in the upper layer was demonstrated to be present at the high levels compared to that in other years. In 2012, the subsurface chlorophyll maximum(SCM) layer and nitracline were formed in a wide range and located at the depth of 50m, respectively. The concentration of depth-integrated Chl-a showed high values in 2012 compared to other years, which is probably attributable to a typhoon and the appearance of the CDW that affected the condition of stratification. Interestingly, although the discharge of Changjiang River showed the lowest values in summer 2013, the appearance of the CDW was observed in the study area. The YS cold water(YSCW) was generated during summer, but their strength and scales may be different in each year. The YSCW may rapidly lead to natural recover of water stability after the passage of typhoon in the YS. The relatively strong water stability in the central YS, which was mainly influenced by the YSCW, may play important role in the distribution of Chlu) were observed in 2012 and 2013 Of the environmental parameters in 2011 when the strong typhoon passed through the center of Yellow Sea three days ago, before measured, the concentration of chlorophyll-a(Chl-a) in the upper layer was demonstrated to be present at the high levels compared to that in other years.
