Abstract
We performed the marine magnetic and the bathymetry survey in the North Fiji Basin for finding the submarine hydrothermal deposits in April, 2012. We acquired magnetic and bathymetry dataset by using Multi-beam Echo Sounder EM120(Kongsberg Co.) and Overhouser Proton Magnetometer SeaSPY(Marine Magnetics CO.). We conduced the data processing to obation detailed seabed topography, magnetics anomaly, reduce to the pole(RTP), analytic signal and magnetization. The study areas composed of three part areas that the KF-1 and KF-3 in Central Spreading Ridge and KF-2 in Triple Junction. As a whole, the previous studies on the structure of the this study area(Auzende et al., 1990) support our results of the magnetic properties(Magnetic Anomaly and RTP). The spreading ridges of the study areas showed common Central Anomaly Magnetization Highs(CAMH) and low magnetization at the end zones of ridge outer sloped. These distinctive zones are can be confirmed from red dotted circle in 3D map figures. We proposed that this circle points indicate high possibility of hydrothermal deposit from its low magnetization zones. We can expect to have the better results by comparing with the other study like geophysics(seismic), geology and geochemistry in this area.Co.) and Overhouser Proton Magnetometer SeaSPY(Marine Magnetics CO.).
