dc.description.abstract Marine actinomycetes, isolated from the surface of marine algae and invertebrates, have received increased attention as a potential source because they produce a variety of new bioactive secondary metabolites compared to terrestrial microorganisms. The producing strain Streptomyces sp. 112CH148 was isolated from a starfish collected from Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia. Two new and two known α-pyrone derivatives were isolated from the culture broth of the strain 112CH148. The compounds were isolated and purified by ODS open column chromatography and semi-prep HPLC. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by the analyses of the extensive 2D NMR and mass spectroscopy.ganisms.
