dc.description.abstract Some patterns of reproduction were investigated in two species of pomacentridae, Amblyglyphidodon curacao, Dascyllus aruanus in the coral reef of Chuuk Lagoon, Micronesia. Here, the reproductive characteristics of female A. curacao and D. anuanus were described. Its annual reproductive cycle was examined between August 2008 and July 2010 using gonad histology and estimated the gonadosomatic index (GSI). Reproductive patterns of A. curacao, D. aruanus exhibited multiple spawner characteristics, including coexistence of various maturity stages in maturity process of ovary. The spawning activity of A. curacao occurred three times within one year, whereas, there occurred throughout the year in D. anuanus. However, our knowledge was not clear understanding the relationship between difference of spawning activity and environmental or ecological mechanisms in the coral reef systems. Therefore, it needed to further studies.nuanus were described.
