dc.description.abstract | The genus Eurytemora Giesbrechrt belonging to the family Temoridae Sars G.O and has so far accommodated 30 valid species, which are mostly occur in the eatuarine to shallow waters from cold and temperate latitude in the north hemisphere. Two species such as E. composite and E. pacifica have been recorded with their completely redescription from Korean waters. The first record and redescription of E. maericana in eastern Korea, generally occurs together with the neritic copepods, Acartia omorii, Cengrapages abdominalis, E. pacifica and P. parvus s. l. during a biodiversity survey aimed atr popluating a distributional database on copepods in northern Korean estuarine and coasts. We also found a dense population of E. maericana in the estuarine of Jincheon stream, Dongae harbor in northern Korea in a salinity app. 25psu on 5 May 2011. E. maericana has so far been known as a cosmopolitan species. This species is an estuarine copepod native to the northern hemisphere, but it was accidently intriduced in the Argentina estuary with ballast water of ships coming to the harbor zone from northern hemipshere locations. This species also has several times been reported as invader species in Europe through transport in ballast water of ships. We sugest that a detailed knowledge on its taxonomy and molecular variability needs to be studied.o species such as E. composite and E. pacifica have been recorded with their completely redescription from Korean waters.
