dc.description.abstract Two scale worms of the family Polynoidae, Hyperhalosydna striata (Kingberg, 1856) and Arctonoe vittata (Grube, 1855) were found for the first time in Korea by SCUBA diving. The two species are known as the organisms both free-living and associated commensally with a wide variety of other invertebrates. Five specimens of H. striata were collected from Jeju-do Island, and of these, one specimens was collected in a tube of Eunice species of the family Eunicidae. Inteh case of A. vittata, nine speciemnes were collected from the East Sea and eight of these were closely associated wth asteroid or holothroid species. The two species can be easily distinguished from their congeners by having distict morphological characteristics as follows: 1) H. striata has reddish-brown longitudinal striped elytra 2) A. vittata has pigmented band near segment eight and two kinds of neurochaetae. The morphlogica key characteristics of both species agreed well with their orginal descriptions and redescriptions. In this study, the descriptions and detailed illustarations of two speices based on Korean materials are provided.ociated commensally with a wide variety of other invertebrates.
