dc.description.abstract For measuring the optical properties of water surface in the laboratory, a multi-spectral bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) measurement system have been developed with simplified goniometer and spectrometer. A hemi-spherical structure is adjustable to control an incident angle and detection fiber position after reflected from water surface. The system, which consists of NIST standard lamp and reference spectrometer covering from 360nm to 1100nm with 1.6nm spectral resolution, could be used for the target volume size having 30 &#8211 50cm diameter and 30cm depth. The zenith angle limit of detecting fiber range from 0 to 90 deg, and the azimuth angle, relative to the illumination direction, range from 0 to 180 deg with 5 deg step angle. We preliminary measured three targets for verifying the BRDF system. The first case is BRDF measurement of spectralonto comparing with other researches. In addition, clear and turbid water are the other case studies in this paper. The preliminary measurement results show the feasibility of this BRDF system for water surface and a different spectral shape in two-type of water.rical structure is adjustable to control an incident angle and detection fiber position after reflected from water surface.
