dc.description.abstract Satellite and airborne optical data are often occluded by the sun glint effect which is a serious problem in analyzing ocean features in shallow waters. For high spatial resolution data, four sun glint correction methods are developed by using the degree of sun glint in NIR wavelength and there are some differences of statistical variables in NIR data. This study compares four sun glint correction methods proposed by Hedley et al. (2005), Lyzenga et al. (2006), Goodmen et al. (2008) and Kutser et al. (2009) using high spatial resolution CASI-1500 data obtained on 12 October 2013 in shallow waters around the Jeju Island, South Korea. After atmospheric correction, the above four methods are applied and the sun glint corrected results are compared. This study is also analyzed by extraction types of NIR statistics with considering the types of substrate. In comparisons of spatial profile, it is good to use the NIR mean value extracted on sand area. The method used minimum NIR value is showing overestimation results. The method of keeping spectral shape is showing some remaining of sun glint effect and noises still exist.ing the degree of sun glint in NIR wavelength and there are some differences of statistical variables in NIR data.
