Abstract
The waveheight spectrum perturbed by varying surface current is calculated using action balance equation assuming the Phillips spectrum as an equilibrium wave height spectrum. The backscattering radar cross section (RCS) per unit area of sea surface is calculated using the SPM scattering model. For comparison with real SAR data, the relative RCS modulation was computed. The IWs and bottom topography results are compared with the RADARSAT-1 images acquired on 5 July 2000 and the ENVISAT-ASAR image acquired on 11 December 2007 in coast of the Korean Peninsula respectively. It is shown that the relative RCS are in fairly good agreement but some discrepancy has been observed and the reasons are discussed.a surface is calculated using the SPM scattering model.
