Abstract
The concentrations of 239+240Pu and 210Po were determined in the marine biota of several trophic levels around Korean Peninsula to understand the bioaccumulation of these alpha emitter radionuclides. Marine biota including phytoplankton, zooplankton, macroalgae, crustaceans, mollusks, surface water fish, bottom water fish and cephalopods were collected in 2014. The concentrations were measured in the parts of skin, muscle and internal organs if possible to be separated. The concentrations of 239+240Pu in collected biota were the highest in phytoplankton with 58±10 mBq/kg• ww and had descending order of phytoplankton > zooplankton (13±4) > abalone (5.40±1.2) > sea mustard (0.80±0.006) > laver (0.64±0.08) > red-banded lobster (0.50±0.20) > mackerel (0.30±0.02) > anchovy (0.27±0.10) > squid (0.26±0.06) > flat fish (0.24±0.13) : (unit: mBq/kg• ww). The concentrations of 210Po in the muscle of squid, abalone, red-banded lobster, mackerel and flat fish were 8.6±2.0, 2.9±0.9, 2.8±0.2, 0.8±0.1 and 0.5±0.1 Bq/kg• ww.oplankton, macroalgae, crustaceans, mollusks, surface water fish, bottom water fish and cephalopods were collected in 2014.
