Abstract
Haeundae Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Korea particularly during the summer vacation season. It is a small pocket beach facing south which is located in Busan, the second largest city in Korea. During the past decades, however, the beach has been subjected to substantial erosion, and this yielded a big concern to both local and central governments. As a result, a multi-year research program was launched on the beach-nearshore processes related to the erosion of Haeundae Beach. A variety of investigations were planned including hydrodynamic measurements, beach and seafloor profiling, sediment sampling and seismic profiling.r, the beach has been subjected to substantial erosion, and this yielded a big concern to both local and central governments.
