dc.description.abstract The Haeundae beach is one of the most popular attractions in Korea during the summer vacation season. However, it has suffered from beach erosion owing to the integrated effects of artificial developments during the past four decades. To prevent or mitigate the erosion of the Haeundae beach, the Korean government launched a comprehensive, multi-year beach monitoring program in 2013. The main focus of the program was on the nearshore processes related closely to the beach erosion. A total of 10 sites were stationed before the beach to measure three basic hydrodynamic variables of current, wave and suspended sediment concentrations. For the measurements, various self-contained instruments were employed including the current and wave equipment (Aquadopp and AWAC) and benthic tripods (SPHINX and TISDOS).event or mitigate the erosion of the Haeundae beach, the Korean government launched a comprehensive, multi-year beach monitoring program in 2013.
