Abstract
- Chromene derivatives was isolated from Sargassum siliquastrum showed anti-inflammatory effects on pro-inflammatory mediators in LPS-stimulated murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cells. Chromene derivatives were identified as sargachromanol series, and its anti-inflammatory effects showed inhibitory activities of NO production. Especially, sargachromanol G (SG) showed its profound inhibitory effect. SG significantly inhibited the production of inflammatory markers (NO, iNOS, PGE2, and COX-2) and pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6) in a concentration-dependent manner. The anti-inflammatory effects dose-dependently inhibited the phosphorylation IкB-α and NF-кB (p65 and p50) and MAPK (ERK1/2, JNK, and p38). These results suggest that SG have the necessary properties to be used as an effective anti-inflammatory agent by the down-regulation of NF-кB activation and MAPK phosphorylation. and its anti-inflammatory effects showed inhibitory activities of NO production.
