dc.description.abstract The mean DDT and DDE concentrations measured in the sediment of Asan Bay, Korea were 0.18 and 0.42 ng/g dw respectively. The steady-state uptake model was used to estimate fish body burdens of these chemicals in greenling (Hexagrammos otakii), olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) and rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli). The body burden of pollutants varied depending on the fish species and the other environmental parameters. Measured concentrations of DDT and DDE in three species of fish were similar to those estimated by the model. The health risk was assessed for human population exposed to DDT and DDE by consuming fish dwelling in this environment.
