dc.description.abstract | As a successor of GOCI, GOCI-II (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager-II) is being developed from 2012 and has the plan to launch in 2019. GOCI-II will be operated at the same orbital position (128 degrees Eastern Longitude in geostationary orbit) with GOCI. GOCI-II mission operation mode consists of Global (Full Disk) mode, Local mode, Star imaging, Moon imaging, and Solar Calibration. Global mode is new capability of GOCI-II for global monitoring and research on the long-term climate change. Observation area of the global mode is a circle field of ±60° longitude and latitude central to the spacecraft nadir. Full disk will be accumulated a image with 235 slot during 1 day. There are three conditions for FD image acquisition (1) The effective range of solar zenith angle < 80 degrees. (2) The effective reflectance range of avoiding Sun-glint < 0.01sr-1. (3) No gaps among adjacent slots regarding the difference of acquisition time under the expected baseline S/C pointing accuracies and stabilities. For the reduction of ISRD (Inter Slot Radiance Discrepancy), the scan type of reference local area mode is changed to column-by-column raster scan from South to North within a column and from East to West between columns. Local mode also has some update from GOCI. The first is the increase of the number of image acquisition to 10 times from in geostationary orbit) with GOCI.
