Abstract
- Actinomycetes, especially the genus Streptomyces, have produced the chemically diverse metabolites and a number of bioactive compounds. In previous our study, we isolated the four α-pyrone derivatives from the culture broth of the marine-derived Streptomyces sp. 112CH-148. The structures of the α-pyrone derivatives were elucidated by the analyses of the extensive 2D NMR and mass spectroscopy. The α-pyrones have been shown to have antibacterial and antitumor activities. As part of our ongoing study for the discovery of various biological activities, we found that the α-pyrones also have anti-inflammatory activity. Herein, we report the effect of violapyrones B and C, α-pyrone derivatives, on LPS-induced inflammatory responses in vitro. These compounds inhibited the production of NO compared to the LPS-induced control and down-regulated the expression of iNOS protein in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells.erived Streptomyces sp. 112CH-148.
