dc.description.abstract Using different parametrization of regional chlorophyll-a algorithm and comparable primary production algorithm, we recalculated the primary productivity of the three adjacent seas (Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and East Sea) for the period 1998-2014. The time series of annual primary productivity of the three LMEs show distinctive patterns. The primary productivity of the Yellow Sea in particular, shows an interesting pattern of stepwise increase, while that of the East Sea showed a decrease in the last several years. We discuss the possible causes of such changes. The changes in the Yellow Sea suggest the influence of the Three Gorges Dam, while those in the East Sea indicate the influence of climate forcing.998-2014.
