Abstract
This paper presents experimental results on wave overtopping and loading for the recurved parapet on the crest of rubble mound breakwater. Nine different shapes of recurved parapet were used in the experiment to understand the effect of the crest height and the horizontal recurved depth. The measured overtopping discharge was compared with the EurOtop formula for a simple armoured slope. An adjustment factor related to the geometry of the parapet was suggested to consider the effect of recurved parapet when using the formula. The wave loading on the parapet was normalized by the equivalent loading on the simple vertical wall and presented with some parameters based on recurved geometry. In general, the wave loading showed proportionally increasing trend with the recurved depth. crest height and the horizontal recurved depth.
