Abstract
The impact of ocean warming on scyphozoan polyp was evaluated in the polyp of Sanderia malayensis by using SMA Transcriptomic oligo-microarray. The series of differentially expressed gene (DEG) profiling were carried out in the groups of polyps which exposed to 25, 26, 27, and 28 °C in each. A group of polyps cultured at 24 °C was used as a control. The biological process ontology for the genes which expression was affected by the hyperthermal exposure were analyzed using the default parameters of DAVID version 6.7 (Database for Annotation, Visualization, and Integrated Discovery https://david.ncifcrf.gov/) with Homo sapiens as the background. In the 25 °C exposed group, the terms related to adipose tissue development, hippo signaling, response to activity, and transmembrane transport were deduced from the DEGs. For the 26 °C exposed polyps, epithelial cilium movement involved in determination of left/right asymmetry, transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter, hippo signaling, mRNA splicing, and response to activity were inferred. Negative regulation of BMP signaling pathway, negative regulation of translation, negative regulation of pathway-restricted SMAD protein phosphorylation, cell-substrate adhesion, heme biosynthetic process, and ventricular septum development were analyzed in the 27 °C exposed group. The expression of the genes which were related to cellular response to unfolded protein, lyps which exposed to 25, 26, 27, and 28 °C in each.
