dc.description.abstract | Some summer sea fog events of 2014 to 2016 around the southern coastal regions of Korean Peninsula are studied. Daytime sea fogs were detected using high temporal and spatial resolution Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) data, and supplemented by Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data. To facilitate continuous monitoring a MODIS-based automatic nighttime fog detection was applied. To understand the timely variation of sea fogs over 2 to 3 days some sea fog events were observed and found to be excessively shrunk at night though again covered extended areas during daytime. For the convenience of detection further work with the application of machine learning is in progress, and their results will be validated in comparison to the current detection results.lemented by Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data.
