dc.description.abstract GOCI-II, Korean second ocean color sensor in geostationary orbit, planned to be launched in 2019 needs new ground segment systems to meet GOCI-II data processing and distribution timeliness requirement which is less than 1 hour though GOCI-II data size is 24 times bigger than the data size of former sensor. The development of GOCI-II Ground Segment System (G2GS) is composed of a. data processing algorithms, b. ground-based operation systems, c. GS infrastructure. Data processing algorithms are newly developed by applying several bands that have been added to the GOCI-II, and the existing GOCI algorithms will be reused after verification. Currently, G2GS Algorithm Development Environment (ADE) is opened to G2SDT (GOCI-II scientific development team) and G2SDT are preparing draft version of GOCI-II algorithm theoretical based documents (ATBD). G2GS is composed of six subsystems, data acquisition (DAS), data correction (DCS), data processing (ODPS), data management (DMS), operations and quality management (OQMS), precision correction (PCS). All subsystem’s functions, components, classes and interfaces are designed in detail and main software functions of G2GS System Operation Environment (SOE) are developed. The system designed to satisfy the system requirements with the latest IT technologies like automation, parallel processing, optimization, high-performance hardware.
