dc.description.abstract Detection characteristics of submerged cylindrical target can be performed using broadband ultrasound and underwater sound scattering analysis. The backscattered signals, composed of specular echo and elastic echo, have information on the submerged cylindrical target, including its dimensions and material characteristics. In this study, we performed ultrasound-scattering simulation and experiment of backscattered signals when a broadband shockwave (center frequency 2.25 MHz)was used as the incident wave.Used cylindrical target radius was 30 mm and shell thickness 1 &#8672 2 mm. The radius and thickness of a cylindrical target was estimated by analyzing the echo signal in the time domain and the echo spectrum in the frequency domain.ubmerged cylindrical target, including its dimensions and material characteristics.
