dc.description.abstract A novel, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium, designated strain MEBiC09517T, was isolated from Buksung-Po, Incheon, Republic of Korea. Cell are 0.62&#8211 1 x 2.3&#8211 3.3 μm. It has low 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity with cultivated strains was low (89.9%). Optimum growth condition of strain MEBiC09517T is 50&#8211 55°C, pH 7, and 2&#8211 2.5% salt concentration. Strain MEBiC09517T is an obligate marine bacterium that requires KCl, MgCl2, and CaCl2 as well as NaCl for growth. A PE, a PL, four GLs, and an unidentified lipid are the major polar lipids. The fatty acid mainly consists of carbons with 16 or 18 chain lengths. The predominant menaquinone is MK-7. The DNA G + C content is 68.65 mol%. Based on phylogenetic analysis using 16S rRNA gene sequence and results of physiological test, we propose the strain MEBiC09517T for type strain of Roseothermus cellulosivorans gen. nov., sp. nov., which is a member of Roseothermaceae fam. nov. was low (89.9%).
