Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the utility of the hybrid between two groupers with different preferred habitat water temperatures in the aquaculture industry. After producing fertilized eggs of the hybrids between the red-spotted grouper (Epinephelus akaara) females with a body color which meets consumers’ preference and the fast-growing giant grouper (E. lanceolatus) males, the appropriate incubation water temperature for the embryonic development and hatching of these fertilized eggs was investigated. The fertilized eggs of the artificially produced red-spotted grouper ♀ × giant grouper ♂ (RGGG) and fertilized eggs of the pure red-spotted grouper (RG) (control) as the control were incubated at 22℃, 25℃, and 28℃ (salinity 32.1~32.8 ppt).per (Epinephelus akaara) females with a body color which meets consumers’ preference and the fast-growing giant grouper (E. lanceolatus) males, the appropriate incubation water temperature for the embryonic development and hatching of these fertilized eggs was investigated.
