dc.description.abstract Gomso Bay tidal flat, which is located below the Byeonsan peninsula, has been protected under the Ramsar Convention because of its biological diversity and the habitats it provides for endangered species. However, Gomso Bay has undergone various environmental changes following the construction of the Saemangeum Dyke. Thus, it is essential to analyze the environmental factors of Gomso Bay before and after the construction of the Saemangeum Dyke. The objective of this study is to analyse long-term change of topography, distibution of chlorophyll, suspended sediment, and sea surface temperature using a variety of remote sensing images. Topograpic change analysis was carried out with remotely sensed topographic data such as waterline based DEM and TanDEM-X image. Benthic chlorophyll distribution, water chlorophyll distribution, and suspended sediment distribution were estimated using band ratio of remote sensing reflectance derived from Landsat-5,8 and Sentinel-2. Sea surface temperature and benthic temperature of tidal flat was calculated through brightness temperature of thermal images. Verification of remotely sensed data was carried out with buoy observation data and in situ measurement data. Outer bay tidal flat showed the trend to deposit after the construction of Saemangeum Dyke. Inner bay tidal flat shows opposite result. When tidal flat devide to upper flat and lower flat, upper flat showed the trend to depos -
