dc.description.abstract During four cruises, in August 2010, April and August 2011, April 2012, seasonal and regional variations in vertical distribution of mesozooplankton were investigated in relation to the hydrological properties in Yellow sea. Samples for the spatial distribution zooplankton were collected at 8 stations located in 34.5°N(A-line) and 36°N(E-line). Mesozooplankton were obtained with open-closing net (mesh size 200 ㎛) at five stratified depth (0-10m, 10-20m, 20-40m 40-60m, 60-90m). In spring, vertical temperature was lower about 5.5-10.1°C. In summer, vertical temperature ranged 8.5-28.6°C, and the thermocline was stronger about 15 to 25m. Temperature in water column was slightly higher at stations on E-line than on A-line both spring and summer. Zooplankton abundance and composition shows a clear seasonal pattern, with generally higher abundance in summer than in spring, and with the appearance of cladocerans in summer. Copepod were the major taxon during all surveys. Dominant copepod species were Paracalanus parvus s.l., and Oithona similis with Acartia omorii and Oithona atalanticain August 2010, with Centropages abdominalis in April 2011, with Calanus sinicus and A. omorii in August 2011, and in O. atalantica April 2012. Whereas some juvenile groups such euphausiids eggs, echinordemata larvae, decapoda zoea, were abundant in spring, others such as cladocerans and appendicularians, were the spatial distribution zooplankton were collected at 8 stations located in 34.5°N(A-line) and 36°N(E-line).
