dc.description.abstract KIOST and the Biodiversity Foundation of Korea have conducted the “Tidal Flat CivilBiologist Program” as part of Civil monitoring program. This program aims to invitestudents and citizens to participate in the biological and ecological investigation ofthe tidal flats’ many inhabitants. Until now, the most common activities that takeplace in Korean mudflats simply involve exploring the beauty of the landscape or, atbest, offering a species-centered survey of some of the local fauna. As a result, thesurrounding communities typically have a limited understanding and appreciation forthe tidal flats and the life-forms they harbor. By introducing scientific activities and asimple methodologies for participants to use while they explore and learn about thehabitat, the program has strived to develop high-quality content and more in-depthknowledge. Overall, the initiative has been successful in disseminating its resources to awider audience in order to encourage potential students of marine biology.l investigation ofthe tidal flats’ many inhabitants.
