dc.description.abstract Geotechnical characteristics of oyster shell treated as waste materials being produced at oyster factory area were investigated to find its recycling possibility as construction materials. The engineering characteristics of crushed oyster shells with various grain sizes having their crushability from initial crushing step of virgin oyster shell being landfilled at fields were examined by several laboratory experiments. Experimental results show that oyster shells are lighter than sand in weight, and have a similar characteristics on permeability and shear strength with sand. Also, oyster shell can be considered as good crushable materials from grain size distribution tests but not much crushable with existing loads. These findings suggest oyster shells are very promising construction materials for port and harbor structures. 굴양식에서 발생하며 폐기물로 간주되는 굴패각을 건설재료로 재활용하기 위한 지반공학적 특성조사를 수행했다. 굴패각을 야적하는 단계인 패각 원형을 1차 분쇄한 상태에서부터 굴폐각이 파쇄되어 발생할 수 있는 다양한 입도의 굴패각 시료에 대한 역학 실험을 실시하여 공학적인 특성을 조사하였다. 실험결과,굴패각은 일반 모래에 비해 경량이지만 투수 및 전단강도 특성은 모래와 유사한 것으로 나타났다. 굴패각 시료의 가장 큰 특징인 파쇄 특성을 입도분포 조건으로 고찰해 본 결과 파쇄가능성은 크지만 현실적인 하중조건에서는 파쇄가 그다지 크게 발생하지 않는 것을 알 수 있어 항만구조물의 건설재료로 매우 유용한 것으로 판단된다. -
